Ashgabat International Airport

The landscape design of Ashgabat International Airport is shaped in alignment with the building’s form, drawing inspiration from the silhouette of the falcon. The expansive forecourt in front of the terminal creates a strong sense of arrival through its symmetrical paving patterns and linear rows of trees, offering passengers a composed and impactful approach experience.

A restrained yet effective design language defines the landscape. The interplay between hardscape and geometric green areas establishes a balanced contrast. Water elements and linear reflecting pools mirror the terminal’s silhouette, adding depth and openness to the space while creating a cooling and refreshing atmosphere.

Within the project, extensive parking areas and vehicular circulation routes are articulated with tree islands and shaded zones, reducing the urban heat island effect while enhancing user comfort. The planting design responds to the arid climate conditions of Turkmenistan, incorporating drought-tolerant and heat-resistant species.

Linear rows of cypress trees and low shrub borders strengthen perspective and provide clear spatial guidance. The landscape design reflects the architectural form onto the ground plane, balancing scale and extending national symbolism into the public realm—functioning not merely as environmental arrangement, but as an integral design layer that completes the project.
