Awaza Convention Center
Rising along the shores of the Caspian Sea, the Avaza Congress Center presents an ecological manifesto shaped by an extreme geography defined by scorching desert heat, high soil salinity, and strong winds. The project embraces the harsh parameters of the Türkiye–North Africa desert belt not as constraints, but as primary drivers of the design.
Developed with a LEED Gold vision, the landscape strategy is built upon xeriscape planting and sustainable irrigation systems that minimize water consumption. The resilience of native vegetation, combined with advanced engineering solutions, transforms severe climatic conditions into a calm and refined landscape language. Here, nature is not merely a backdrop, but a living infrastructure—resilient against adversity and sustained through water efficiency.

The design adopts a strategy that mimics natural vegetation, placing the high adaptability of local species at its core. Composed of salt-tolerant groundcovers, drought-resistant shrub groups, and wind-resilient tree forms, the planting responds aesthetically to harsh environmental conditions.
Advanced irrigation technologies that maximize water efficiency support a balanced relationship between hardscape and greenery, establishing a sustainable open space fabric. This strategic layout enhances user comfort through shaded resting points and microclimatic effects, transforming the landscape from a purely visual frame into a dynamic living infrastructure that respects the local ecosystem and prioritizes water management.
