Vatan Mukaddes Memorial Park

The Monumental Rhythm of Landscape and the Water Layer

Memorial Park is a monumental-scale public memory space that brings together the historical depth and collective identity of Turkmenistan within a singular spatial composition. The project centralizes the city’s symbolic monuments through a cohesive axial system, transforming the act of remembrance into a dramatic spatial experience.

Referencing the geometric codes of the Turkmen flag, the design scheme is structured around a crescent-shaped museum and a star-formed monument platform, which serve as focal elements of a powerful composition. This central axis is not merely a circulation route, but an urban backbone that defines ceremony, hierarchy, and perspective.

Spanning an expansive area of 431,000 m², the landscape presents a monumental composition defined by large reflecting pools, fountain systems, and terraced lawns. The sharp contrast between hardscape and greenery balances the architectural scale while introducing a rhythmic order to the space.

The planting design is dominated by principles of symmetry and repetition, where cypress alignments and geometric parterres intensify the axial perspective. The dramatic contrast of yellow and red vegetation is carefully balanced with the cool texture of stone. Reflective water surfaces amplify the silhouettes of the monuments while enhancing microclimatic comfort and reinforcing spatial depth. In this way, the landscape evolves into a powerful and prestigious design layer that extends the architectural hierarchy onto the ground plane.
